Two speakers on Clojure, the JVM-hosted new Lisp
Location: Common Roots Cafe community room
October 24, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM
As usual, we will meet and hubbub till about 6:30 PM and plan on starting the talk then. Remember, if you get there early, there are happy hour prices!
This month, Ben Peirce will speak about Sequences in Clojure:
One substantial difference between Clojure and previous lisps is the unifying sequence abstraction, and the way this abstraction interacts with Clojure's support for native data structures like vectors and hash maps. In this talk I'll introduce some of Clojure's data collections and show how they can all be accessed as sequences, Clojure's abstraction of lists.
Brian Maddy will speak about Clojurescript:
ClojureScript is the new hotness in the Clojure world. It's Clojure that compiles to JavaScript and integrates well with the libraries
Google uses for its products. Brian will give an overview of ClojureScript, explain some of its features, and talk about why you might want to use it.
